Wired network

A wired network is a network with physical cables connecting each system together. The following are the advantages and disadvantages of using such a network.

Advantages over wireless networks:

  • Throughput - A wired network offers 100Mb/s or 1000Mb/s connection speeds

  • Non-Shared - network connection speed is independent of one another so multiple connections do not hinder total throughput of individual network connections.

Disadvantages over wireless networks:

  • Many cables - It may be expensive and cumbersome to run many cables between computer systems. It may also be complicated adding new systems to the network.

  • Maintainability - When changes need to be made to the network such as relocation of computer systems it may be difficult to move the cabling required for the network.

  • Mobility - When using a notebook which is required to be connected to the network a wired network will limit the logical reason of purchasing a notebook in the first place.


Wireless Network

A wireless network is a network without physical cables connecting each system together. The following are the advantages and disadvantages of using such a network.

Advantages over wireless networks:

  • No cables - No cabling means that having to run cables between computer systems is no longer necessary. No extra cabling also allows a much easier path to adding new systems to the network.

  • Maintainability - When changes need to be made to the network such as relocation of computer systems the network will not need to be reconfigured at all.

Satellite technology scpc

SCPC (Single Channel per Carrier) is a point to point & point to multipoint technology making it the V-SAT equivalent to conventional lease lines. SCPC is used for economical distribution of two way duplex or simplex data broadcasting for audio, video and data communications. In an SCPC system configuration, user data is transmitted to the satellite continuously.


Dvb/scpc

DVB/SCPC is widely used for access to Internet services. Under this technology option, Data is transmitted via an SCPC link and is received through a DVB receiver. The DVB receiver receives downlink transmission from a DVB platform at a Teleport (Central Location) and can be shared by many users and sites, which can be increased or decreased depending on the allocated bandwidth capacity. Most high bandwidth users opt for the use of an DVB/SCPC technology for their Internet Service requirements. This is considered as economical solution as it is shared through a DVB platform, whilst still providing the end user with high download speed.


Tdma (Time division multiple access)

The best known V-SAT network architecture is TDMA which is used around the world for low speed (30kbps-128kbps) data communications, such as credit card processing and verification, point-of-sale inventory control and general business data connectivity. That allows flexibility and speed.

Automatic vehicle location

The AVL is a computer-based tracking system that makes fleet management more powerful and intelligent than ever. This system allows the fleet Operators to monitor vehicles from a remote location using GPS Satellite Technology. Through a vehicle-tracking device, the vehicle transmits its location and other important data to a base station over a communication network. The base station receives the information in real time and displays it on a computerized map. With this information, the fleet operator can take control of the fleet, improving management decisions as events arise. Information retrieved about the operation of the fleet can be summarized in system generated reports that should help in making more accurate decisions.

AVL-SMS

AVL - SMS is an intelligent automatic vehicle location system. With the use of GSM, vehicles positions are transmitted immediately to the base station where all fleet vehicle locations are displayed in digital maps.

Whether you are operating delivery, industrial transportation or a service fleet, the AVL-SMS is the right solution for managing your fleet for better performance at lower cost. With the help of GPS satellites, AVL-SMS detects your vehicle's data including time, location and speed and sends them immediately to your base station PC via the GSM network. AVL-SMS can also fulfill specific requirements such as taking some important readings of the vehicle or controlling some devices in it.

On the base station, the AVL-SMS application enables you to monitor your fleet on a bilingual Arabic/English digital map.

You can also control the way your vehicles send their data. A vehicle can send its information at fixed time intervals, fixed distance and/or whenever it violates any of its operating rules (e.g. going outside working boundaries or exceeding speed limit)

AVL-SMS helps you also in planning and printing predefined routes or specific operational regions for your vehicles, as well as checking any recorded trip against these routes/regions.

In addition to the above features, you can use the application off-line for storing, retrieving, managing and printing your vehicle's information (e.g. model, plate number...etc). You can also navigate throughout the map, identify and get information about some map features, search for a certain feature and print any part of the map with the needed amount of details.-
